As a leader of merchant guild during the Renaissance, your commercial empire begins with low-cost developments such as mines and caravans. Next, you’ll purchase ships to send explorers into the new world. Your fleet will return with talented artisans that will join you to help increase your empire. As you build, your wealth and prestige will grow. If successful, you might even receive an honored visit by a noble such as Henry VIII or Anne of Britain, which of course increases your prestige and glory. And only the most prestigious merchant will win, in Splendor!
Splendor is one of the most sought after gateway games! Whether you are a new gamer stepping into the amazing board game world of today, or a seasoned player, Splendor keeps you coming back for more. Winner of countless awards, Splendor is a must have for your game collection.
Splendor can be explained in five minutes, can play in half an hour, and works great with two players just as well as with three or four. In Splendor, you lead a merchant guild. Using tokens representing gemstones, you will acquire developments which produce new gems (bonuses). These bonuses reduce the cost of your purchases and attract noble patrons. Each turn has just one action. The first player to reach fifteen prestige points, triggers the end of the game. With quick game play, there’s not a lot of downtime to be bored - it’s fast and intuitive. Splendor includes card/deck building and set collection mechanisms. Perfect for game night or sharing a board game with family around the table.
Mechanics include card drafting, contracts and set collection.
